NABA Family and Friends,

Greetings on behalf of the entire 2017-18 Executive Board. I am very honored to serve as the Baltimore Metropolitan Chapter’s President for fiscal year 2018.

NABA is the premier professional organization focused on representing the interests of African Americans and other minorities in the Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Government, Consulting and other Business related professions and academics.  NABA’s mission is to address the professional needs of its members and to build leaders that shape the future of the accounting and finance profession with an unfaltering commitment to inspire the same in their successors. Simply put, NABA is about living its motto of “Lifting as We Climb”. I am very excited to execute NABA’s mission locally, within the Baltimore Metropolitan area.

My vision for Baltimore NABA can be summed up into two words: Active Involvement. This can be accomplished in many ways. We need to engage our professional members to be active.  We need to engage the current student membership so that they remain active after graduation.  We need to establish a culture where we work with the rest of the accounting community so that employers and professionals will know that NABA is a resource of high quality potential employees, mentors, advisors and consultants.  Finally, we need to remain active and engaged as an Executive Board.  That is not just in meetings but also in our day to day lives with our connections.  We are all champions for NABA and we need to continuously move our mission forward.  The Baltimore Chapter stands on the shoulders of some of the accounting profession’s greatest contributors who made a way when there was no way.  It’s now our turn to help guide the profession to new heights.

We have worked this summer to create a calendar that we believe will meet and exceed the needs of our students and professionals.  But we can’t do it alone! We need active members for our committees and participation in our general body meetings in order to provide the man (and woman) power needed to actuate our goals.

On behalf of the Executive Board and the members of the Baltimore Metropolitan Chapter, we thank you for you participation in NABA. Whether you are a current or prospective member, a corporate partner or a future friend of the Baltimore Metropolitan Chapter looking for information about the organization, we hope that you will choose to contribute to NABA’s goals in any way you are able. I look forward to seeing you at upcoming events and experiencing your involvement as we continue to lift as we climb.

Yours in service,
